Reviews

Matthew Hamel

“'Song' is basically a two-person musical, and the script is admittedly (you should pardon the expression) one-note. However, director Matthew Hamel plows ahead bravely and stages the show with confidence. Best of all, he's chosen two winning performers who are the equal of - and at times superior to - original casters Robert Klein and Lucie Arnaz.”
The Star Ledger, New Jersey

"Spirtas and Wolf make an endearing pair. In fact I can’t imagine the original Broadway cast...doing a better job. Spirtas has a nicely understated delivery. Wolf’s Sonia manages to be loveable despite being maddeningly neurotic."
Theater Critic - Tom Wrona, NJ

“…truly brings out the best in those around him.”
Ray Roderick, Director

Tara Jeanne Vallee

"All the trappings complement the high-level aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, balancers and more, performing in spotlight vignettes with mood-matching choreography by Tara Jeanne Vallee"
Lynne Heffley, LA Times

"...in Surflight's production they (the Greek chorus) appear on stage singing and dancing at strategic moments to illuminate the character’s feelings...Their dancing was spot on, due no doubt to Tara Jeanne Vallee’s choreography."
Theater Critic - Tom Wrona, NJ

"The tip off for dance performance as opposed to pure circus is the through line with interweaving stories... Paired with what other critics term 'sassy staging' by Goldberg is intriguing choreography by Tara Jeanne Vallee... Her variety of styles applies distinctive characteristics to each emulated animal."
Nuvo.net, Indianapolis

"Acrobats...cavorting to the thumping choreography of Tara Jeanne Vallee"
Newsday, NYC

"Choreographer Tara Jeanne Vallee and acrobatic coach Iouri Klepatsky have combined to create a dreamlike environment in which elaborately costumed humans leap and climb, slither and soar with the grace and power of the animals they're depicting."
Akron Beacon Journal

"Sassy staging by director Neil Goldberg, exuberant choreography by Tara Jeanne Vallee, and a spirited original score by musical director Jill Diane Winters also enliven the proceedings, which simply must be seen to be believed."
